Application Context in the Product Rule
What does specifying app context in the product rule actually affects?
Documentation says: "The Application Context field displays the name of the application that the Import wizard uses to validate the contents of the specified ruleset"
What does Import wizard validate and how?

The app context is to just denote which application version having the mentioned ruleset and version.
It is just for readability; it will not play any role in deployment process (or) any validation and will not create any negative impact.
If we are having a testing app name in app context field in product and testing app is not avail in higher environment. With this configuration if you are deploying the product to higher environment also without any issues product deployment will get completed successfully.
But when you are running validation checker, system will show this product is having some issues like that.

Configure -> Application -> Tools -> Validation.
After deploying any major code to production environment, if we are running this validation checker it will automatically compile all the rules and will give you the compile status.
