How to generate .dat file in PEGA?

Hi Team,

Hope every one is safe and doing good.

Could you please help me to know how to create .dat file from pega?

The original requirement is something like I have to read a table content from the DB, convert the content to .dat file(separating column values with a delimiter ) and then place it to a destination server directory.

Any assistance would be much appreciated.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I saw that post earlier, and it seems that by doing those prconfig changes it will always create .dat file until we turn the value as false. 

But according to my requirement I need to create the .dat file with my specific set of data and then place it to a destination folder.

Hi Akash,

 

The above post & prconfig refers to the DAT files(represents the blob dump) created by Pega in case of BLOB Stream errors like Work Objects corruptions when the system fails to open such work objects.

Those DAT files are later used internally to analyze blob corruption.

 

Irrespective of the config, these DAT files are not relevant in your case as you are looking to convert some table data into .dat file and place in the directory.

 

I don't think Pega has any utilities or functions to convert the clipboard page(containing table contents) to .DAT file standards.

 

But you may explore Connect-File to place to the data read from DB table into other formats like xml, txt OR  more appropriate tools like BIX to output csv, xml file when the table contains pzpvstream blob columns.

Thanks for the explanation. It was helpful.

But my requirement was exactly to convert the table data to .dat file so that the other application can pick that .dat file up for further processing. 

To achieve this, I had to tweak the default  OOTB activity "pxConvertResultsToCSV" and it worked. Also unlike the delimiter "," in CSV. We can also change the delimiter by customizing "pzGetLocaleListSeperator".
