Reading .dat files from Application server in to pega using File listeners
Hi ,
I have a requirement to read the .dat files from application server and save in Data table using data pages and data classes.
i could see the options to process .csv ,.txt etc from app server and read those in pega file listener to process.
How can i mention the format in file listener(for example: *.csv for csv files , *.txt for text files)?
But how can i read the.dat files? Can anyone help me to sort this.

Thank you for your Reply, i have successfully read .dat files and displayed in data pages from Application server by following the below steps:
1.I have given *.dat as Source name mask in file listener.
2.In the service file Parse Segments column ,Map to : should be Parse delimited.
3. Created Parse Delimited rule with record types as .DAT
4.In Parse delimited rules Field description, Field format should be Custom definition and Given Delimiter as ~
5.In Parsing details section Mapped all the required properties with clipboard.
So, finally i got executed and records saved in Data page.

To process all kinds of extensions mention *.*
For dat files you can mention like *.dat and try processing it.

Enter a mask used to select the files in the Source Location directory to be processed. You can use an asterisk as a wildcard match. For example, BA*.TXT causes the system to find all files with type of TXT that start with the two letters BA. Case is significant in matching files on UNIX systems. You can include one asterisk character "*" as a wildcard in the root of the mask (before the period) and one asterisk character "*" as a wildcard in the file type. Don't use more than one asterisk in each part. If you leave this blank or use a mask of *.*, the listener selects every file in the directory identified in the Source Location field (skipping over any files that are themselves directories). |
P.S: I never tried with .dat file extensions
