Does Pega_data.jar contains DDL or DML

I would like to upgrade one of the client environment from 7.3 to 8.3.1, does pega_data.jar contains any DDL or DML.

Looking at the contents, I could see only instances are shipped, no DB table instances are shipped. However https://collaborate.pega.com/question/upgradeupdate-pega-data-schema talks about DDL changes.
