Jar file added to the EAR file does not appear in the Etier Runtime Environment
I have a jar file with a few classes added to the prpc ear file in my 6.3 application. This jar usually appears in the Etier Runtime Environment of the SMA form which we update the compiler default path dynamic system settings. This is working fine in 6.3 at runtime picking the right classes. The same jar file has been added to the 7.2.1 PRPC EAR file and the jar file is not appearing in the Etier Runtime Environment Class loader chain. The classes are not visible at run time as well even after updateing the compiler default path. Any suggestions?

Here is the solution: "The issue is resolved. The custom jar started showing up in the sma after updating the MANIFEST in \prweb.war\META-INF\."

Import the jar into the database. It will use the customer codeset.
This is the recommended method.

In general, you should not customize your ear file, which is error prone. You can either import to the db as Jim said assuming there are no conflicts with existing jars in pega. or you can include jar using app server specific ways (e.g., shared lib with Websphere or jboss module with JBoss).
