Pega installation on AWS Postgres RDS
Hi Team,
I have a question regarding Pega 8.3 installation on AWS RDS Postgres, as UDF's are not allowed on RDS what is the alternative to that and can we have the exact steps to enable them, I went through a couple of articles and all of them mentioned PL/V8 as an alternative but it does not have steps to enable them.
Please guide if anyone has done that.

Hi Dalbir,
Yes, you need to have a PL/V8 version of UDF's as AWS doesn't support PL/JAVA version of UDF's.
Try contacting your Account Executive for getting the PL/V8 respective scripts for UDF (These scripts are internal to Pega cloud systems) and unsure if that's shareable.

UDF can cause serious performance problem. Do NOT install it (especially in a production env), no key Pega features should depend on that.

I second Kevin's comment. UDF severely degrades performance.
Except for reports(with unexposed properties), there is no other place UDF's are useful.
