Pega Platform integration with third party application
Hi,
Could you please confirm if we can send a push notification to a third party mobile app in Android such as outlook or facebook from Pega platform. I have searched for this information in pega community articles and in google but didnt get clarity on this. So, kindly confirm.
Thanks,
Gayatri.

Facebook or Microsoft would have to register their app at Pega in order to enable receiving notifications. Can I ask that is the problem you're trying to solve? Maybe there's a different solution for that.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply. As part of my POC, I am trying to send a push notification to outlook mobile app in Android. So I have created a project in Firebase console for outlook mobile app and tried to create a mobile certificate set in Pega through Designer Studio->Mobile->Certificates. I could fill in details such as App ID, FCM Server Key and Google Service JSON file but I could not upload signing certificate i.e. .p12 certificate that Pega is expecting for that outlook mobile app. Please find the attached screenshot. Since outlook is developed by Microsoft, could you please let me know if I need to contact the Vendor for that .p12 certificate file. Also, based on your reply, though we have .p12 certificate file, does Microsoft has to register the mobile app at pega end to receive the notifications. Please clarify.

Gayatri.

Hi, what would the notification be notifying the user about? About a new email in Outlook? About a calendar event? Or you just need to show a custom text message to the user?

I don't think you can just show a message to the Outlook user. It always needs to be backed by an item in Outlook: a calendar event, an e-mail message, etc. Perhaps what you need is to send an e-mail to the user, and have the user configure the mobile Outlook in such way that it receives a push notification (from Microsoft) as soon as the e-mail is delivered to the user's mailbox?

Hi,
Thanks for your reply. I will try that way you have suggested and in this regard could you please confirm if Pega supports sending notifications to outlook. Also, please let me know if there are any existing mobile apps that are registered with Pega to receive notifications.
Thanks,
Gayatri.

Dear Gayatri,
I also suggest you to take a look on the Intelligent Virtual Assistant capabilities of the Platform:

I have impression that you may found it useful in your scenario.
