Recommendation to avoid downtime during Upgrade in Production

Hi,

We are upgrading our application from pega 7.2.2 to pega 8.1.1. As per our plan we will copy the upgraded rule schema (from Test environment) to production which does not require any outage. However Data schema needs to be upgraded via in-place manner which requires some downtime (at least 1-2 hours depending on the data size).

Is there any way we can avoid this downtime?
