Near zero downtime Upgrade With frameworks
We're planning to upgrade our platform to infinity 23.x with near-zero downtime with below reference documentation.
We have frameworks as well to install, it doesn't clear states how the frameworks will be installed without downtime post #8 (data upgrade & rolling restart with redeploy the war)
Has anyone been in this situation? Platform upgrade + frameworks (Customer Service & PegaCall) installation with near-zero downtime.

What's the maximum downtime allowed for your migration?
It could be achieved in one hour max with a rules schema dump from a prepared environment with proper prepared process.
Downtime is longer that "almost none" but it removes lots of complexity.
Fully depends on your business.

@Anthony_Gourtay We've exposed services running round the clock to create cases, scheduled batches like agents, job, QP. From business users we have off-hours but not from the external parties/consumers who can create/update the case.
2-3 hours should be acceptable outage, but as i said we have 3 frameworks to install and out of which Customer service is the big one. From the last upgrade we recall it took 3-4 hours to complete the framework installation without data upgrade.

Hello,
There are several post in which we discussed export/import of RULES Schema from on env to another.
In short:
- you refresh a valid environment in which you'll do your testing with your Prod DB
- you perform all required upgrades activities there
- you test all your functionalities
Then when you're good for Prod
- Stop your Prod and ideally take a back-up only after the stop
- Export RULES schema from tested env and import it in Prod (export could be done in preparation steps, depends on how you want/plan to handle this part)
- Perform data schema upgrade, regenerate grants & synonyms and then load any specific data instance.
Then upgrade is basically completed
- you're then good to start & test your upgrade
This is one approach allowing to make most of the preparations in offline mode. And with export/import, you're sure that you've got a binary copy of what's been tested & validated.
You might need few others steps depending our your own application, but high level process is there.

Hi, In referenced post, framework upgrade can be performed at "step 8 : Redeploy the application to run using the new rules". Application deployment also refers to Framework upgrade (if applicable).
From technical point, framework upgrade is same a importing latest Framework version RAP files through application import feature. You can use access groups to control which framework version will be available to end user. Thanks

@SuhasKumarYes correct, it is same as importing RAP or few jars but it does have some DDL changes which will update the inflight tables as well. That's where we're concerned is it Pega approved solution that we can upgrade platform along with framework in near zero downtime or for frameworks we have to deal with outage.
