Why does "Component" provide encapsulated functionality?

Hi,

I am trying to find out the reason why Pega's "Component" provide encapsulated functionality. Encapsulated in OOP (Object-Oriented Programming) means field or method are invisible from outside of the class. Does "Component" hide anything from developer?

Hello,

I don't think "encapsulated functionality" is based on "Encapsulated" from the OOP world.

I believe this is just a self sufficient tool that can be used on many application regardless of the class and the ruleset.

Thanks for your comment. I was wondering if rule instances in Component may get invisible or hidden but do you mean to say they are still visible in Designer Studio?
