"Validate As" option in Parameters Tab

What is the purpose of Validate As option in Parameters Tab. As per the Pega help, we need to provide a property from Applied To class and the entered value will be evaluated against the Local list specified in the referred property.

Can we also validate the input value against a validate rule using this option?

Hello,

I rarely used that option. We have so many ways in Pega to validate stuff, why would you do it in here. Anyway you might have a good requirement to use this option but to answer your question I think you can only validate against properties.

Yes I do understand there are many other ways to address validations. Was just trying to understand the concept of having validation for Parameters. So I tried validating with a property by giving a local list and couldn't see any such validation happening.

Am I missing something here? Is there any OOTB rule which has this consumed? So that I can recheck my implementation with that?
