How can i restrict a value to be used based on some count?
Hi,
Actually i have property and am having a count associated with that.If the property name is ABC and the count is 10 then whenever a particular user using that name called ABC the count should be reduced by 1. Atlast if the 11th user using that name ABC, while he entering that name it should popup an error message called the "name is invalid".
How can i implement this??

Just a thought:
1. Have a property Prop1.
2. Fetch all the valid proeprty value for Prop1 from Data Page. (eg:ABC, DEF, etc)
3. Data Page fetches from Report Def.
4. Filter RD with positive value only.
5. Data table from which data page and RD is fetched will have count against all the valid property value. (Eg: ABC,10;DEF,12, etc.)
6.On property selection, have a action (may be data transform or activity) to update the value and refresh the datapage. You might need to commit here. (though i will try without using commit first).
7. In case if you dont wish to have a drop down and interested in all the value irrespective of count as 0 or negative, then on submit, call a validate rule and validate the property.
Hope this will help. Another thought is to use the declare trigger.

Just a thought on this :
Create a data table which has a list of property and max count.
Whenever the property is used, update the count in data table.
Hopefully this should work, if there are no more restrictions in your application.

I did in the same way as u said, but when the property is used i am not able to set limit count where it should say either invalid property name or the property limit is exceeded.
