Have you tried the Test panel available on the strategy canvas? It allows you to test the strategy for a single customer and for a batch too. Clicking on a shape will show the records for that shape after the test run.

In Pega 7.1.7, the 'Auto-Run Results' tab on the Strategy Designer canvas provides the option of testing the strategy using a Data Transform or an Input Definition.

Hope you are well.  As you know this decision audit capability is not part of the product yet.  We are looking at this for a future release so expect to hear something soon.

Within the version you are on you will not have access to the test run panel which greatly simplifies unit testing.   On your version I have historically created strategy properties to hold the outcome / path through a strategy which I can then  write information to so that I can debug.  To avoid performance issues you should have a capability to switch on and off (parameter).

Also at another client we had an activity that would prep the customer data on a test page which we hen stepped through the strategy... actions > run and then reference the right page and thread.  You can step through the strategy components there.

Another thing worth mentioning is in 7.2.2 we introduced Test Case rules and in 7.3 we will have test suite rules (combination of test cases).  This is still very new but over the coming releases we will work to make these easier to use, but even in their current state they will make testing much easier.
