Pega Segment Data mapping with external data base

Hi,

I'm new to pega marketin/Decisioning. I just want to know couple of things regarding segment.

1. How the data flows into the segment when we create a new segment? How the data base table/view is mapped to segment?

2. Whene the campaign run is finished how the data is written to external data base table/file? where these mappings happen?

Also please suggest any source to read about these concepts.
