I am assuming you already have the email account in your application since you ran the wizard already.

After that you just need to use Send Email smart shape in the process to send email.

You've set up an email account for sending / receiving emails from PRPC.

Now, you need to write an email, a correspondence in PRPC,  and send it out, usually it is performed by an agent.

As you said that you completed Email account setting, and I hope you also verified the email connectivity, then to send mail to customer [probably GMAIL account as you said initially] you need to decide the source rule which will send/generate the mail.

By default PRPC can send mail (correspondance) from following rules -

1. Assignment shape.
2. Send Email flow shape.
3. When SLA is reached.
4. "Send Correspondence” flow action

Choose any from above list which is suitable for your purpose. Hope this answer your question

Hi Prasanth, Does the less secure apps have access under the account which your are trying to configure ? To explicitly enable "less secure apps" in gmail settings got to: google.com/settings/security/lesssecureapps.

Is the server hosted on your laptop? If not and you are connecting to it through the internet (or an intranet), testing the connection while at home will not make a difference.

Okay, that sounds like it is related to the problem. I'm not familiar with running Pega on VMware and connecting to gmail... But there is likely something that needs be configured in VMware for that to work.

I wonder - Can you ping smtp.gmail.com from within the VM successfully?

Pega Academy uses "Personal Virtual Systems" - which are just ready-to-go virtual machines, I believe using VMware - which is why I asked.

So, is this a virtual machine provided to you by Pega Academy?

Select the option "Bridged:connect directly to physical network"

option is available under Settings -Network Adapter - Network Connection

If you're not using the option as mentioned above, I'd suggest trying that. You may also want to reach out to folks at Pega Academy, as they will know more about how these VM should be configured.
