VM Virtual box really slow

Good mirning, I asked before about that more or less. Currently I can connect de VM but, it really takes so time to connect, Maybe one or two hours. I dont understand because  it occurs, but I cannot work easily with that. I spend a lot of time waiting the VM works.

Please, may you tell me some advice to improve that time? Ive already desinstall and install the VM Virtualbox. Download again the system exercise. But it cannot work faster.  maybe even slower.

Hello Elena

Can you please share the specifications of your host machine: memory and CPU?

The exercise system virtual machine uses 4 GB and 2 CPUs from the host machine. If the host machine has only marginally higher memory and CPU than this (example 6 GB and 3 CPUs), then it is likely that you will see slow performance on both the virtual machine and the host machine.

You can reduce the memory and CPU allocated to the virtual machine and see if it helps. In the VirtualBox, right-click on the virtual machine and select Settings. Go to System where you will find both memory and CPU settings.

Elena,

Thanks a lot for your post.

  1. 30 seconds after starting the Exercise System you should be able to ping it from a console window. ("ping prpc.local") 
  2. 5 minutes after starting the Exercise System, the Tomcat webserver will be up and you should be able to access it with Internet Explorer. (http://prpc.local:8080)

If step 1 fails, you very likely have a VirtualBox configuration issue. Please consult the Virtual Machine quickstart guide: http://pegasystems2.http.internapcdn.net/pegasystems2/exercise_guides/PA_Virtual_Machine_Quick_Start_Guide_12_14_15.pdf 

If step 2 keeps failing after a couple of retries, your Exercise System might be corrupted. In that case it is recommended to re-download a fresh Exercise System.
