Personal Edition - 7.2 painfully slow

We are trying the Pega 7.2 platform on a personal edition installed on a desktop (6GB, Xeon 2.6 GHz). I have increased the tomcat JVM memory

set JAVA_OPTS=-Xms2048m -Xmx2048m -XX:PermSize=128m -XX:MaxPermSize=384m

Yet, the performance is very sluggish. An individual click on the UI takes about 15 seconds or more. Saving a data model or view is even worse.

Any clues?

You may need more memory or a new laptop entirely.

     Note: This example is for Java 7. Java 8 does not require you to set PermSize or MaxPermSize.

     On Windows — setenv.bat set JAVA_OPTS=-Xms4096m –Xmx8192m –XX:PermSize=512m – XX:MaxPermSize=1024m
