Configuring the "Create Case" Action for Data Objects
Use Case Description
This configuration allows users to create cases directly from Data Objects. Information from selected rows in the List View on the Landing Page can be copied to the Data Reference property in the new Case for further processing. This feature is available only in applications built on the Constellation design system.
Step-by-Step Configuration Guide
Step 1: Prepare the Case Type
- In App Studio, navigate to the Case Types section using the Left navigation pane.
- Select the desired Case Type.
- Go to the Data Model tab.
- Create a new Data Reference Property (Single Page) for the Data Object.
Step 2: Configure the Create Case Action for the Data Object
- In App Studio, navigate to the Data section.
- On the Data Model landing page, locate the Data Objects section and select the desired data object.
- Go to the Actions tab.
- Under User actions, click
.Action > Create Case
- Provide a meaningful name for your Create Case action.
Note: This name will appear in the UI. - On the right side, select the Case Type that should be created by this action.
- Also on the right, select the field that will store the data reference, allowing you to pass the context of the selected data object to the newly created case.
Step 3: Enable Create Case Action in List Views
- Click the UX tab.
- Open the Other Views tab on the right.
- In the List section, select the List View you wish to use, or create a new one.
- In the Editing section, check the box for Enable create/update/delete.
Step 4: Configure the Landing Page
- In the navigation pane, click Channels.
- Select the Web Portal (or other required portal).
- Add a new Landing Page for the Data Object.
- Configure the List View on this Landing Page (created in Step 3).
Step 5: Test the Functionality
- Launch the Portal.
- Open the relevant Landing Page from the left pane.
- For each row in the List View, a triple-dot (ellipsis) menu will appear.
- Clicking the triple-dot allows users to directly create a case from the selected Data Object row.
Note:
The optional "Create Case" actions for data objects are available only in applications based on the Constellation design system.
