Telnet? Although you should get some response, you are supposed to use a browser to connect to prpc.

Could you clarify which version you are using?

doing a "ipconfig" on your machine will give you the IP address of your machine not the IP address of the PVS (the server you are executing)

you need to login to PVS: root / install (or password) and the do a "ifconfig"

Could you try with port 8080 as well?

By doing ipconfig I am getting the virtualbox host adapter ip address, which is reasonable since if I got it right, I will use that ip : 9080/8080 to access the web interface.

This is how I understood it:

Pega will run on the virtual machine provided,

Virtual machine's network will be configured as host only adapter

I will reach the Pega web interface using the browser on my laptop(not the vm), by vmip:port

On the vm, I have checked if 9080 being listened  by netstat, and I have seen that it is in listening state.

However, I cannot seem to connect to that ip:port via telnet issued via my laptop's cmd line.

Have I got it righ?  This is my first course in Pega, therefore I do not have much know how on Pega academy.

I am not sure about the version, this is a vm that is provided by the course itself.

BTW: the host-only IP address by default is Proprietary information hidden:9080

I encountered a similar issue. The guys at Self Study support helped me fix it. In my case the solution was to:

• Shutdown/Close the VM
• Open the settings (not preferences but settings, the gear icon)
• In the Network tab, make sure to select PCnet-FAST III as Adapter type
