Issue

The default Phone field does not dynamically apply phone number formatting when users enter values.

Symptoms and Impact

This issue occurs after updating from Pega Platform^TM 23.1.1 to 25.1.1.

Steps to reproduce

1. Add a Phone field to a view or form.
2. Open the Phone field configuration and make sure that Show Country Code is not selected.
3. Run the application and enter a phone number in the field. Result: The phone number displays exactly as entered formatting is not applied automatically.
4. Enable the Show Country Code option in the Phone field configuration.
5. Run the application again and enter a phone number. Result: The phone number displays in a formatted manner.

Root Cause

This behavior is expected in Pega Platform 25.1.1.

The default Phone field does not dynamically apply phone number formatting when users enter values unless the Show Country Code option is enabled. Therefore, the behavior observed after the update is consistent with the current product design.

Solution

Enable the Show Country Code in the Phone field configuration.

This has also been identified as a platform enhancement.   

Issues are prioritized based on impact, severity, and capacity. The specific release for the fix has not yet been determined.  This section will be updated with release details when the fix for this issue is available.
