word document generation in background in Pega 7.1.6
Hi,
we have a requirement to generate word document with data present in the job and emailing it. Is there anyway in Pega to generate the word document through activity instead of rendering it at client side using silver light.

Hi Kartheek,
You can use MSOGenerateExcelFile Activity to generate excel file by passing filename and exceltemplate name that you want to generate.
1.Create one excel template file and add property columns to display the required properties
2.Call MSOGenerateExcelFile
parameters
FSFileName "AutoDialerReport.xlsx"
TemplateRFB "webwb!AutoDialerReportExport!xlsx"
DownloadFile false

Can we use docx4j API to generate word document in Pega 7.1.6? i saw this need licenses from company which developed it. Reason for asking this is Pega is using this API from 7.1.8 onwards.

There is no OOTB feature to generate a word document on server side. As you said this is available in 7.1.8, till then only option would be to use third party API.
Just a suggestion, may be you can try convincing your client to generate a PDF instead of Word, if not already? You might know this, it is possible to generate PDF on server side and then email it.
