Tree grids are meant for summary reports as we aggregate data based on groups.
Hi Rajiv,
Thanks for your reply.
I tried "Tree grid" and it did work with "pyOpenCountByStatus" report.
However, I am still couldn't understand why "summary type report" doesn't work well with "Repeating grid".
I performed a test as below, and based on the test result I believe there should be no technical blocker which prevents using summary type report with repeating grid.
1. Define a "Data page" sourced by "pyOpenCountByStatus" report.
2. Source the repeating grid with the data page defined above.
Test result: section rules can be saved without any error, and the section can be rendered with desired search result.

If you just need a flat display of summary type report in a grid and not a tree grid, using an intermediate data page is the option you have
Yes, I also noticed that I can use data page instead of report definition to display the summary info in a repeat grid.
However, I still don't understand what is the reason behind the limitation of sourcing repeat grid by summary type report definition, which was possible in PRPC v 6.3 SP1.
