What is the use of "Simulate Data source" In Data pages
In Pega 7 in DATA PAGES under sources we have a checkbox as simulate data source. Can some one explain the use of it .
The below info was found In help ,its clear please explain in detail.
When you check this checkbox for a data source, the system replaces the current data source with a blank row. You can then select an alternative data source to use during development--a Report Definition, a data transform, or a lookup. You cannot select another connector.

This option really just switches between 2 different data source configuraitons, a temporary one intended for development / testing and a real one.
The Simulate Data Source option allows you to disable the primary configuration of the data source and use an alternate temporary data source. It may be the case that during development the data source that you will be using for the data page is not available yet, or not appropriate for use for development and testing. Once you are ready to move from simulated to real data you can uncheck this option to move back to the primary configuration.

Thanks for the post.
Is there a way that we can turn on/off simulate data source option application wide in a single place rather than editing rule by rule ?
for example there are 100 Data_Pages which rely on a web service under development. So All of these have Simulate Data source turned on. Once the web service is up an running, could we turn it off by on shot or we will have to edit all 100 Data pages ?

Hi Pavani,
In Data Page Simulate Data Source work as virtual source to load the data into your data page.
We will select this option to load some sample data into the data page instead of original data.
For Example:you have a data page of type List and its source is Connector of type SOAP or REST,Suddenly if the Service which is providing you the date through the connector went down and you are now not able to get the data.
In such situations As a developer you will go for the Simulation of Data Page and with the help of some other means(Data Transform and Acivity) ,you will load some sample data and resume your work.
