Upgrade procedure
For Pega Upgrade from 7.1.7 to 7.2.2, please advice whether I can following the below given procedure given that we are migrating the WAS servers as well.
1. Fresh installation of 7.2.2 on the new WAS server
2. Take a rap of the app rules from 7.1.7 and import it in the installed 7.2.2 version.
3. Run IUA to upgrade the app rules (If I run IUA, will it consider only my application rules or the 7.2.2 OOTB rules as well?)
4. How can I do the data upgrade?
5. Import new versions of FW apps.

Hi Shruti,
What is the version of WAS you are migrating. Verify if it supported by PRPC v7.1.7 in platform support guide https://collaborate.pega.com/discussion/prpc-5x-6x-platform-support-guide-easy-find and migrate the WAS. And then migrate to the PRPC v7.2.2 as per the migration guide provided.

We are migrating to WAS 8.5.* and PRPC 7.1.7 is supported. Are you asking us to do a fresh installation of PRPC 7.1.7 on the new WAS and then migrate it to PRPC 7.2.2. Please correct me if I got you incorrectly.

Why are you looking to do a fresh install and then import your application and upgrade? Since you are already on 7.1.7 you should update to 7.2.2. You will need to update the framework versions as well to versions that work on 7.2.2.

Hi Shruti,
As Celeste mentioned, no need of a fresh install. Enclosed are the steps for your reference;
- Upgrade only WAS for PRPC v7.1.7
- Once you have the latest WAS version for the PRPC, run the upgrade PRPC v7.1.7 to v7.2
