Text File Parsing with fixed position columns
Hi ,
We have a requirement to parse a text file in attached format.
The fields are in fixed position in each rows and some rows are needed to be skipped based on a criteria.

Thanks for your response.
We are able to fix the issue, using Map Structured rule we are able to separate the data in the row and store in pagelist.
The only point is the data should be of fixed length. If the data length changes the capturing of properties will not be consistent.

I think the best way to do it using e form, where you define an editable pdf and allow user to enter the specific values in the form. You are also be able to parse the eform OOTB.
If you really need to do it using text then you need to take the entire text in one string and then do your operation.There is a rule type parse delimited, you can explore that.

Thanks for reply. The problem we are facing is that we get a whole file from external system of size about 3 MB. Now to put a whole file in a string and then to pick out the needed values from it is not possible. So for that we are not able to use Parse-Delimited rule in this situation.

Have you considered the option of using File Listener and Service-File rule?

Thanks for responding. We are using FIle listener for thr purpose. In the activity we are using, Map Structured method to read the file.
The problem we are facing is that, the values of 1st row only are getting stored in the properties. And the whole text is getting stored into another property.
What we need is to store the values of 1st column into 1st property and same for other columns.

May I know what kind of Method Type you are using to achieve the requirement like record at a time, by record type etc?
