Subprocess
If I use Change Stage under smart shapes or I use Subprocess then I am thinking that I will get almost same type of functionality. Please explain what is difference between Subprocess and Change Stage

The Change Stage process would also update the stage history and go through any conditions, SLAs, etc that are configured for the stage.

Subprocess:-
A subprocess also called a subflow, is a flow that is called by another flow. Subprocesses are represented by the Subprocess, Split Join, or Split For Each shape in a flow diagram. Use Case Designer or Process Modeler to configure a subprocess in a flow.
While Change Stage, moves the case to a different stage in the life cycle within same flow.

Subprocess can be a process or screenflow .
Could you please let us know which Pega Version your referring here .
