Steps to migrate the Cassandra(embedded) data from Pega 7.31 to Pega 8.7 with external Cassandra
We are planning to upgrade from Pega 7.3 marketing NBAA to 8.7 CDH/CS. As such we are also planning to use external Cassandra in 8.7. In 7.31 the embedded cassandra is being used for storing the modelling data.
Just wanted to know how we may migrate the data from the embedded cassandra to external one? Please share if any documentation or links available.
Also is there any CDH/CS pega spaces to which we may request access for detailed docs pls?

@mitrarii I have been informed by the SME that at the moment, we do not have any ready-to-share documents with guidelines for migration.
Also, some of the migration procedure will depend on the target cluster setup, so the project would need to be a collaboration between Pega consulting and the team that will operate the target cluster you would want to manage in your client cloud.
We are aware that we need to prepare some high-level guidelines and in the near future we will prepare external guidelines based on the migration procedure from embedded to external for Pega Cloud.
If you need further help in the meantime I can only suggest that you check with your Pega AE to may be able to suggest the next steps to allow us to work directly with you to help out with the migration.

@MarijeSchillern Thank you. I have gone though these links esp. Cassandra overview one is really good.
However, just to clarify, my question is more towards : currently we are using the Cassandra database in embedded mode in 7.31 which once we upgrade to new environment in 8.7 we will be switching to external Cassandra DB and the overview document gives good insight regarding the configuration and steps for the external Cassandra connectivity to Pega. But I am still a bit confused about the migration of the existing data from embedded Cassandra db to the external one. There is a mention about exporting Decision data set but as it was embedded, so do we need to do anything else to make sure all production data is correctly migrated from embedded db to external one.

Meanwhile, just wanted to check one additional point:
For our client the upgrade is from Onpremise 7.4 embedded Cassandra to OnPremise 8.7 with external Cassandra --> could you also please add documentation for OnPrem applications when you are updating docs for client cloud or please share if anything available already for onprem systems?

So in you previous reply you had mentioned that

I am just requesting to include both OnPrem systems as well client cloud when preparing the external guidelines please.

@mitrariiAny learnings from the exercise that you could share? we are looking at something similar in our attempt to move to latest version of pega. we plan to externalize cassandra which is in embedded mode in pega7.x, during our upgrade to 8.x

@Arjun Lath @Tanul_Thanvi our SME's have stated that since there is no easy way to do the migration, you will need to work with the account team to understand the urgency.
Therefore the request is for any questions like this to open a support request.
@adama @ @wtekiela @rusui since then can you point us to any migration procedure from embedded to external for Pega Cloud ?
