In the pattern ,you can specify , at when , the agent activity should run.

If it is configured as start up- The agent runs the activity , on every restart of the node i.e when the jvm starts.

An example could be to 'reindex all the work' or, to initialize environment specific settings or rules(replacing the localhost with actualhostname of the machine) etc.,

And, in the prconfig.xml file, you need to set the below variable, to enable/disable start up agents
