re-index Pega UI

Hello,
Search is not working, so I'm running a re-index operation in Pega UI. I see the following error in PegaRULES-ALERT-2017-Nov-20.log:
pzActivity=pzLPFTSManagerRunBuildIndex;$PDeclare_pyDisplay$ppyDCDisplayState$ppyActiveDocumentType=LANDING;primaryPageClass=Pega-Search-Manager-Status;*HTTP interaction has exceeded the elapsed time alert threshold of 1000 ms: 30003 ms.*
Does this mean the re-index operation failed? Is there a way to check if the re-index is running?

That alert just means that the HTTP interaction took 30 seconds, which is a long time, but doesn't mean that indexing failed. While you're looking at the search landing page, you should see the index file size and number of documents indexed (Indexed 300 of 4000, for example) increasing. The Re-Index button would also say "Cancel Re-Index" if it was running. If you're clicking Re-Index and it doesn't seem to be starting, there is likely some issue. Try tracing it if that is the case.
