Query regarding Exposed Column
Hi,
I have a little query. A property is exposed in database, and the length it is 20. When a value of length more than 20 gets saved into the DB, as expected, that value gets trimmed and shown in Pega end appended with a "+" sign. So when I am seeing the value through report definition - it is coming as trimmed followed with a "+" sign, which is expected. However, when I am opening the instance (work object) directly, it is showing the entire value (no trimming). So I am assuming it is picking up from blob (not the exposed column). So does PRPC always looks for data in blob when opening an instance or is it that here the length got exceeded thats why ? Can anyone please confirm.

just to add/summarize branl point plus my knowledge
1.when you do obj-open/handle the data will be fetched from blob
2.when you run the report data comes from direct exposed columns.

Yes that's correct. If you're opening the item in the application then it will use the BLOB value and not the database value.
The database value will be used, however, if you are running a report.
A report essentially constructs and run some SQL. So having the columns exposted (so they have their own database column) means the SQL will run more efficiently.
Also this give you the option to add indexes to those columns, which can help with performance when running a report.
