Pros and cons of using filesystem for repository

What is the pros and cons of using file system over other repositories such as Amazon S3? I searched around but could not find exact information.

Pros: coming with the system with a default whereas other repos need to be configured although it is fairly easy to do so, especially with Pega supported repos: e.g., S3, Azure.
Cons: Not feasible for cloud native env (e.g., kubernetes/docker container) as it is ephemeral (unless external volumes are configured).

Thanks but I wanted to know more functionality perspectives. Let me ask more specifically - for example, according to Pega help, below is the benefit of repository.
- Repositories are the only supported content storage type that supports streaming and that have no risk of running out of memory.
I am wondering if this is meant only for Amazon S3? Or, does this apply also to file system? What exactly does "streaming" mean?
