Privilege

What is the use of privilege ? Cant Access Role offer control over access to any rule ?

Thank you Maryrita for the article .However I have still confusion.

My Question is 

Suppose I have access role as VerifyCorrespondence and ARO created for Work- class with Execute Activities set to 5 and in that I have set previlege VerifyCorr .Suppose in one activity VerifyCorrespondence of Work-,if I donot set Previlege,will I be able to execute the activity ?

May I know what you understood about the privilege 5 and need some clarification about your last statement. "Suppose in one activity VerifyCorrespondence of Work-,if I donot set Previlege,will I be able to execute the activity ?"
