Pin Dashboard Widgets
I understand that a user can add or delete widgets etc. on dashboard but is there a way to configure the dashboard so that user can pin or hide items they don't want to see at the moment?

Hi,
This isn't something I've personally tried before, but I took a quick look at the OOTB Interaction portal's dashboard (I chose a CS portal based on your post's tags) and used live UI to review the sections that drive the portal. It looks like the layouts and sections under the CSRDashboardTemplateAlt section (this might be different depending on which portal you're using, and you can use Live UI to find the appropriate section for your portal) could potentially be customized to achieve something like this, possibly by using collapsible headers on the contained layouts.
