Pega's OCR Component
We are planning to use Pega's OCR component which pega has recently released for one our application in pega 8.2.
we are installing Abbyfine Reader and pega 's OCR component following the article : https://community.pega.com/marketplace/components/pega-ocr.
It is mentioned that Pega's OCR is used to extract email based attachments .If you want to make use of OCR capabilities outside IVA for Email channel there is an extension point available that allows Pega Platform to invoke the Pega OCR component by using an API.
Our requirement is not to read from the email based attachment. Requirement is to read the scanned images -jpg files from a particular path or folder and extract the fields from those scanned images using Pega's OCR .Can some one please let us know the approach to make use of Pega OCR for reading files which are not from the email channel but from a particular file path.
As per the article : we can invoke Pega OCR component using API . if some one can provide more details about this API - it would help .

Hi,
This api is an activity (pyOCRTextExtractor) you call within your project. The OCR component does not read files directly from a specific path or folder, but does provide an activity where you can input parameters such as file name, base64 file data and in return you get the extracted text from the file.

Base 64 of the pdf file is only getting decoded , base 64 of the image file like tiff or scanned image content in pdf is not getting extracted here . Do you know how to extract the image content ?
