Pega Upgrade - merging ejb-jar.xml & files within EAR

Application created in Pega 7.2.1 with a lot of JMS MDB listeners, running on Websphere. So we are using EAR deployment with lots of entries in ejb-jar.xml & other xml, xmi files in various jar. I am trying to upgrade to Pega 8.4 using EAR deployment. Currently, I have updated the DB and the system is running the Pega provided EAR to make sure everything is running.

The next step is get the MDB setup. Is there a better way to put those info in the new Pega EAR other than manually merge xml fragements from the old EAR to a new copy in the new Pega 8 ear?
