Pega Field Service Upgrade from 8.6 to 8.8
We are planning for an upgrade from Pega V8.6 to Pega V8.8.
Our application is built on Pega Field Service V8.6 in-turn built on Pega Customer Service 8.6.
As per below article Pega Field Service 8.8 is not available yet. Is this the latest update ?

Should we wait for Field service app update before upgrading platform to 8.8 or we can still continue with platform and Customer Service upgrade to 8.8?

@BraamSmithCLSA ,@DionLammers : Can you please help with the above query? Also please suggest on the below upgrade approach for client managed cloud environment 1 . VM upgrade from 8.6 to 8.8 and then work on containerization (or) 2. Performing both containerization and upgrade simultaneously. Thanks,

There are no plans to release newer versions of Field Service after 8.6. See the Field Service section of the latest Customer Service product documentation for confirmation. I believe Field Service has been absorbed into Customer Service in more recent versions, check the Customer Service rulesets and see if you recognize the Field Service capabilities there.
I recommend upgrade-first to get your current applications operational on the latest, most secure version of Pega software with access to the newest features. Keep an eye out for Pega Infinity '23 which is only weeks away. When upgrading, always upgrade to the latest available release.
Once your upgrade is done, then focus on the transition to containerization.
Another reason to do your upgrade first is because you likely already have the skills in your team to complete this step. Your operations team will need Kubernetes expertise to operate a containerized Pega deployment, and perhaps your team does not have those skills yet.

Regardless of how quickly your operations team can pivot to a containerized deployment, upgrading first allows your Pega application delivery team to get to work on adopting newer features available in the upgraded Platform. The transition to a containerized deployment will be transparent to your application delivery team.
Once the deployment is containerized, plan to externalize the third-party services that a Pega implementation depends upon. While using Infinity 8.6, you are likely still using these service in "embedded" mode which - like VM-based deployments - is deprecated in 8.8 and becomes unsupported in future releases.
