1. Does Pega cloud migration use AWS SCT and AWS DMS?
Answer: To migrate database from Oracle to postgres, we use mainly AWS SCT and DMS Services. We use AWS Schema Conversion Tool (AWS SCT) to convert existing source database schema from Oracle to postgres and use the DMS Services to move data from source to Target using DMS Tasks.
2. Does Pega cloud migration use AWS CDC to keep the data in sync during the migration?
Yes, Pega cloud migration uses AWS CDC for larger datasets to keep the data in sync when we kick start migration activities. We do not perform AWS CDC for smaller tables because smaller tables can easily be migrated during down time.
3. Is there any other tools that my client needs to consider
Answer: We do Provision Windows box to install AWS SCT tool and associated drivers. We do install softwares like Oracle SQL developer, PG admin on windows box. Once windows box is provisioned, we request the client to whitelist the IP address of windows box. The whitelisting enables us to access source database.

Answer: During migration we perform rehearsal in development, QA and dry environment before performing any tasks in production environment. We do resolve all the reported issues during migration rehearsal performed in lower environments and our GSA team maintains a run book of reported issues.
One of hurdle migration team sometimes faces during the migration is “short maintenance window”. Sometimes customer cannot provide long enough migration window or source database downtime due to their business operations. If migration team come across any issues during production migration, team must have to resolve those issues during maintenance window.
