Pega and CMIS system integration

Pega can use CMIS systems for content storage. And Pega provides "Connect CMIS" rules that configure the connection to CMIS system.
In addition to the "Connect CMIS" rule, does Pega provide any additional rule, such as out of box UI rule, activity rule, API etc. that would facilitate the integration with CMIS system?
For example, we want to implement document management features, such as document check in/ check out, document versioning. Is there any out of box rule that we can use?
It seems to me that out of box, Pega just supports save to and retrieve from the storage. For any additional features in content management, custom development is required. Is my understanding correct?
