Pega 8.6 Agile Workbench - Can a developer update work item status to DONE where it triggers merge pipeline?

Scenario: a developer is done checking in their changes to a branch and changes the associated work item in Workbench to DONE.

Question: is there a way when the status changes to DONE for it to trigger the execution of a merge pipeline?
