Unfortunately, in Pega WORKS Correspondence attachment retrieval mechanism is handled only in RTF format.

The CGEN command that shows up the word document retrieves the data in RTF format from the database. 

The same stream is actually passed to the PDM server where it is temporarily stored in the work directory before being acted upon by the respective spooler. 

However, we would like to understand your requirement in greater detail. At what stage do you want the correspondence in PDF format :-

1. While transmitting from the Pega server to the PDM server ?

2. While sending the actual email from the PDM spooler and attaching the correspondence as PDF instead of the doc ?

thank you for your answer. To answer your questions ...

It would be important for us to have an pdf (instead of the rtf file) attachment in the outgoing email.

To have (application) internally something in the rtf format isn't the problem.
