This is for Pega 6.2sp2 right. Why would you need this on your Pega 8.4.1 ?

@MarcLasserre_GCS Yes , 6.2 sp2 would link do if available. Is there a working link that can be used or equivalent link that list why activities should not be used or reduced in usage and need to look for alternatives from Pega?

Can this be helpful maybe: https://collaborate.pega.com/question/activity-warning

@MarcLasserre_GCS No, unfortunately it does not list on what ways activities are causing a problem or an impact in pega. I am looking for the reasons why or problem statement against activities in pega . Thanks

To make a long story short, it was because developers were over using activities. We were having activities with more than 50 steps doing a bit of everything. It was kind of out of control really.
Now you can use DataTransform or different shapes on flow to avoid doing the work on activities.
Hope this helps.

I do understand on the maintenance overhead but
1. Shouldn't the warning be introduced when its exceeding 15 steps or like how Obj-Save (Write-Now) issues a warning specific to the method usage, rather than introducing "a moderate warning of reduce activities always" , or 2. For example you will have to use Queue-For-Processing method, but there isn't an alternative (Excluding flow shape) but to use an activity to trigger a background API call from UI by the user to fetch an information and besides even the queue-processor rule also needs an activity. (Just a random example). 3. It also impacts Guardrail of an application when being used for right reasons as well at times.
Are there any other issues like for example compilation of java in activities takes time due to "ABC" reasons and impacts performance so reduce its usage or like security related issues due to custom java and so on. Upon checking further I came across that the link I was referring to in the question, details the pros and cons associated with activities rather than indicating maintenance issue only. Hence the query to look for some viable document or information regarding this warning and misconception around activities. I highly appreciate , if you could message me the contents of that link in a pdf for example or provide me with a link where appropriate information is given. Thanks

That document isn't available externally any longer. How did you stumble upon it so I can verify if it should be active?
Thank you!

@MarissaRogers Hi,
I was referring to the below link and found the
As a best practice, consider alternatives such as data transforms and linked property references before creating activity rules. These are easier to understand and maintain. For ideas and approaches, see PDN article Nine tactics to reduce your need for custom activities.
Searched in google "Nine tactics to reduce your need for custom activities" - and got this link
