A good first course for a developer is "System Architect Essentials", which can be used to prepare for the first level of certification.  Unless you are at a site that is still at version 7 or below, be sure to take the course for version 8.  There is also a "Senior System Architect Essentials" for the lower versions, but it is not available for version 8 yet.  I'd be very much interested to hear if you are able to complete the capstone project for System Architect Essentials; there are an ever increasing number of postings from people (me included) who cannot figure out how to do some of the items in that project, and there must not be too many people who have succeeded yet, based on the rarity of helpful responses to them.
