Mandatory sign (asterisk symbol '*') is not displayed for read-only fields in pega 8.2 whereas it was there in 7.1. How to mitigate this issue?

I tried the use case on both Pega 7.3 and Pega 8.2. The mandatory sign (asterisk symbol '*') is not displayed for read-only fields in both Pega 7.3 and Pega 8.2.
Here is my understanding: In readonly mode, UI elements cannot be mandatory (required) because there is no scope for user to select/provide value in it.
When pxTextInput is read only, it is displayed as a label so it does not fire the required client side validation.
