javascript for navigating currently opened tabs

Is there an out of the box javascript to navigate currently opened tabs?
Goal: To open a currently opened tab upon clicking a link/button from outside the tab layout.

I am sorry but I am not able to understand exactly what you meant by this "To open a currently opened tab"
Can you elaborate it a bit ( perhaps with help of some screenshots )

for example, in your pega case manager portal, you open 3 cases in 3 tabs.
now you want to navigate between these 3 opened tabs by clicking a button outside of the tab layout.
i was able to implement via jquery, but i just wonder if there's pega javascript api for this.

in Developer studio , you can see there is a similar kind of functionality which allows you to go to the required tab on click of the element. Find the attached screenshot.
I guess the underlying JS responsible to trigger such functionality is pzpega_ui_dynamiccontainer.js
You can check that functionality and the rule further to see how best you can adopt similar functionality at your end.
