I currently have 8.0.2046.0 Plugin on Visual Studio and the corresponding Pega Run time, which was installed a year or two ago. I did not install the Microsoft Edge extension. This page says that the Edge extension can be installed later using the web extension installer:
I have some automations currently using IE using this installation. My question is this. Will the installation of the Edge extension using web installer have an adverse effect on the existing IE automations? Will I be able to use both IE as I do now and additionally use Edge using the universal web adapter?
@RobertT8902 Edge support is not available for 8.0 SP1. You will need to get a 19.1 build for Edge support (prefrrably the latest version). Installing the Edge extension does not affect IE. Below is a link to a webinar that was posted recently that you might find informative.
Edge support was added in 19.1.40 and is not available in older versions. Installing the Edge extension will have no effect on your existing IE automations. They will need to be rewritten or updated if you decide to move the application to Edge.
You should move immediately to 19.1 and choose the latest release 19.1.105 (as of this writing). Version 19.1 has been released for almost 3 years and with the pending release of version 21; version 8.0 SP1 (the version you are on) will be out of support soon.
Version 19.1 has tools for assisting you to migrate your automations from IE to Edge and 3 years worth of technical advances.
