IE11 icon visibility where IE settings cannot be changed

The standard fix for IE11 icons not displaying is to enable font downloads in settings. However I am working on a site where it is not possible to alter the IE settings due to administrative lockdown and security concerns.

It is also not possible to use another browser.

Are there any alternative solutions that we can try?

Hi Nandita. Thanks for this, but sadly the additional solution requires permission changes which are not possible to implement either.

Hi James

1. What version of Pega are you on?

2. What kind of icons are not visible?

3. Are you seeing this issue after an upgrade? 

4. Are the icons showing correctly in other modern browsers (Chrome, Edge, Firefox) and not showing only in IE11? (Test only for diagnostic purposes)

5. What version of UI-Kit do you have?

The reason why I am asking all these questions is because we have seen icons missing under these circumstances as well. 

Kindly clarify.

I am using 8.3 (UI Kit 14) - and the issue is coming up on a fresh install with a brand new application created with the wizard. The icons do show in other browsers.

It can only be fixed by adding font downloads - however that is not possible to change here. So if possible I need an alternative.

In a Pega 7.2.1 (UIKit 9) application uplifted to Pega 8.3 then the icons do not appear in any browser even after switching to UI Kit 14 in the application definition and associated rulesets. I am not sure why this is happening yet but that is a different problem to this one.

I worked on a similar case about Icons are missing for IE 11. The local change was as below:

change the HTTP header “Cache-control” value as below:
 
Cache-Control: public, max-age=31536000
OR
Cache-Control: private
