How to pass clipboard property reference in Word Template ? Pega V8

I am trying to pass a top level page value i.e. pyID in word template.I have put {pega:reference .pyID }But pyID is not getting printed , doc is generated with {pega:reference .pyID } printed in it.not the value,Please help if i am missing something.

Use Alt+F9 to switch between Pega references and actual values if references are not hiding that means there is typo in the way syntax for property reference is used.

Alternatively go to - word-->Options-->Advance-->Show Field Codes instead of their values
