How to fetch a specific record without using filters in Report definition?
In a RD without using filter how can we extract records with only say employees name as:Nutan?

@TanyaS58 using filter is the best practice to fetch a particular record. But if u want to fetch a particular record you can do using function alias. You need to pass the filter value to the function alias and nullify the output, if the output is not an expected one. Actually this looks like fetching a particular record, but what we are doing here manipulating the data after fetching.

I belive that we can return the data based on some case statements using function alias, but how function alias can help in this requirement?

@P.Siva.Praveen this approach is not at all suggested, but we can achieve it. If the returned data is not expected data we can make the data blank.
This is not even an approach which can be implemented in real time. But if someone asks in interview without using filter means we can say this one.

@TanyaS58 okay, please open function alias instances from records.
Records-> Technical-> Function alias
You will see many ootb function alias.
For eg:- open UpdateIfValueNotBlank function alias.
You will see a query which check, if value is not null return that else return another value.
You can saveas this and modify it in such a way, when {1} is "your expected output" Then 1 else NULL...
You can use this function alias in report definition by clicking on (fx) in the right side of column... To this function pass your input value as parameter. Eg:- . name
