How does Pega 8.1 use HazelCast

In Pega7, from what I can find, HazelCast was used for inter-node communication for Decisioning. Other than Search, this was the only inter-node communication. There was another post saying there was a plan to use HazalCast for Locking (instead of using the database). So I want to confirm whether Locking or any other functionality is now using HazelCast in Pega 8.1. Thanks!

Hazelcast is also used to keep the node's rule cache in sync. 

Are you talking about the Work Object locking ? Can you please provide us the link that you are referring?
