How do I allow users to input choices that are not provided in a picklist (autocomplete) list?

I configured a long list of items that a user may select from which auto-populates other fields.

However, I want to configure a user to be able to input a different item and populate the respective fields themselves. 

How would I do this?

What I'm currently experiencing below:

select "Allow free form input" check box in presentation tab of auto complete control

I think when you add the autocomplete control, "Allow free form input" will be automatically checked, did you uncheck it.
